[BUG] App keeps stuck on black screen due to bug in PIP functionality #1191

Describe the bug
App remaines stuck indefinitely on black screen & Can't Resume running video after attending a call.

Can't resume the video or back out of app by using device back button untill app is killed by swiping away from the app switcher.

My settings that matter:

a) I have automatically switch to PIP when tapping Home turned "ON"
b) I have kept resume to "Yes" in settings

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Note 1: Pressing Home button before attending the call is necessary step to reproduce the bug with above mentioned Settings
Note 2: for better debugging read 2nd method to reproduce the bug in additional context

  1. During Video Playback When I get a call & press home button before attending the call, after ending the call when I come back to watch playing video from app switcher a black screen is shown.
  2. Unable to use the app after that as it remains stuck on black screen. Only shows controls on tap with player position reset to 0:00 on black screen(see screenshot). Can't come out of the App as it does not respond to device back button either
  3. Only way to use NextPlayer again is to kill it by swiping it away from App switcher. Then after finding previously playing video, app resumes it successfully from the point it was interrupted.

Expected behavior
Resume the video successfully when app brought to foreground through app switcher.

  • Device: Samsung A22 5G
  • Android version: 13 [Samsung OneUI 5.1]
  • App version: v0.13.0.rc3

Additional context
2nd method to reproduce the bug

  1. Start Playing a video with settings mentioned above through the app.
  2. Press Device "Home" button. Video starts playing in PIP mode.
  3. Close the PIP player by using X button at top right corner of PIP Window of NextPlayer. Close the app using device back button.
  4. Try to get back app from app switcher to resume the video played earlier & experience the bug, App stuck on black screen.
