To prevent exposing any incoming traffic to alveus, the clip service uses a request system. You can see the flow for that here. The downside of this is that failures are silent & not explicit, requests just aren't picked up.
To fix that, we need to implement a heartbeat & health check that can report the health of a feed back to the manager. That means that we can actually fail the "upgrade" instantly at the cloud manager if Alveus is offline.
