Against opponents with 1-frame attacks (Fox, Falco, Jiggs) it's unsafe to be adjacent to them while they are invincible. They can attack us with no risk, and no way to defend. Normally we just sort of keep our distance during invincibility, but the KeepDistance tactic doesn't like being backed onto the edge, so it has a buffer there. An opponent with invincibility can just walk up to SmashBot, back it into a corner, then shine when it's up close.
Rather than having a hard edge buffer, SmashBot ought to retreat to the edge to wait out the invincibility.
