"Open Original Page" from Mastodon generates blank or error msg

• it appears in my Mastodon timeline
• in Mastodon, I click on "..." & "Open Original Page"

1 if I'm logged in Mastopod/Activitypod, posts appear
2 if I'm not logged in, in Firefox I get a blank page, in Chrome, a message explaining I'm not authorized to view this content.

Seems logical, indeed, as the pod's content is not public (although there are no options where I could change that status, if I'd like to), but could there be a graceful fallback page or redirect to better explain what's happening?
