In your previous there was a family list. Users could belong to more than one family (with just their one list). It doesn't have to be families; could also be considered 'groups' or similar. This was nice for our extended families where one group doesn't buy for the other, but some people are in both groups.

Yes - currently users are simply managed on a 1:1 basis. This overcomes the problem from phpGiftReg where a person would belong to a family and see then entire family on their home page when they only wanted to shop for a single person in that family.

Ideally, I'd like to have a "group add" feature where you could add all members of a group to your "shopping for" set, instead of having to search for them explicitly. This is a bit of a heavier lift though.

Fair enough. Now I understand that other feature request I saw better. Both would be good things to have.
