Investigate current state of sockets-for-cordova forks

take note: the single commit contained in the legacy branch was created back in April 2020, including a custom fix for a "socket timeout" issue we (propriatory dev team) were experiencing in a custom mobile app. since then, the upstream repository we based this work on has had a few more updates, along with one change that removes the code that we "fixed".

I am currently rebuilding the affected application, and so this fork will either be updated again or ditched entirely in favour of the kitolog repo we forked from.
