Following discussion with Yvonne:

Neuroblast (ZFA:0009011):

  • this term should get the synonym: neural progenitor

  • definition (based on CL reference): An embryonic cell that develops into a nerve cell or neuron.

  • review of the ontology is needed: during development, neurons originate from neuroectoderm and neural crest cells. However, “neuroblast” is currently in the ontology as: is_a_type_of “neuronal stem cell (ZFA:0009019)
    The ontology should be reviewed to reflect that “neuroblast” is not only related to “neuronal stem cell”, and originate from the neuroectoderm and neural crest cells.
