In the GameMaker preferences there is a "Sprite Editor" tab that lets you set default values for imported art assets, for example the default sprite origin, collision mask kind, fps, animation speed, width, eight, origin, and so on.
We have no such thing for music or sound fx, despite being given several options for this asset type, including but not limited to :
Conversion type
Compression type
Mono / Stereo
Bitrate
Quality
Sample rate
Steps To Reproduce
There is technically not steps needed to produce this "issue", but considering games are made up of art and music and that both are equally important to each other for creating games, it just seems silly that we don't have an option to set preferences for music / sounds.
Most of my game projects have at least 50-200 songs / sound fx and each one has to be manually set to my preferred compresion type, output type, sample and bitrate type, one by one, individually.
Personally, I use Compressed - Not Streamed, Stereo, 16 bit, 192 bit rate, and a 44,100 sample rate, meaning on each sound import I have to manually set multiple properties one by one.
It would be great if we could set preferred defaults to these values from the preferences tab, perhaps in a new "Sound Editor" tab which could be located below "Sprite Editor" or in a similar location :)
Which version of GameMaker are you reporting this issue for?
IDE v2024.1100.0.686 Runtime v2024.1100.0.707
Which operating system(s) are you seeing the problem on?
