My team has stylecop and fxcop rules that prevent unsigned assemblies from being referenced for security purposes. I would guess fixing this would help lead adoption, especially in enterprise settings.

In my solutions, I use this nuget Brutal.Dev.StrongNameSigner to fix the problem (with a pre-build event command in VS)
