How to reproduce:
Build classic shelter in mountain, 1 width x 2 high x 3 deep, then fully block outer part with dirt, put torch, wait some time under night conditions, stand near dirt "door".

How it happened for me:
Left my PC, went back, player was dead, explosion was evident, before that I remember creeper trying to ignite sound without luck, but I guess he finally did it during AFK.

Experienced on redstone update version. Thank you for your work.

This is a combination of mutliple problems:

  • Creepers sometimes can't be heard
  • Explosion handling is unfinished (they ignore block hardness)
  • Pathfinding sucks

Also, creeper had no direct sight of me, I was sealed in that mini-shelter.

I can confirm this issue. The creeper shouldn't explode unless he has a clear line of sight to the player. A glass pane wall should be enough to stop him from exploding, or a door with see through holes.

Instead your creepers explode whenever they get close, even if there is a solid wall in between.

You can see expected behavior here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABjzrNOPAAU

As you can see even with the player standing right on the inside of the door, the creeper does nothing, until the door is opened.
