Current channel structure is roughly as follows:

In order to improve the WordPress contributor experience, for both new and ongoing contributors, it would be helpful to have a clear understanding of the Slack (or Matrix) channels that are available. This could/should tie in to the Contributor onboarding flow being created from the new /contribute page #290
Some discussion has also been ongoing in the 6.4 release leads Slack channel about sub-channels created for 6.4, including 6.4 Design Cohort, 6.4 Editor Tech Cohort, 6.4 Marcomms.
The idea behind creating release-specific channels was to move conversations from DMs into public channels. But that structure may not be (is not) replicable across three releases a year.
Stemming from that and in alignment with the goals of Contribute onboarding flow, I wanted to begin to outline the structure of the Make WP Slack public channels. This ticket is a home for that work.
My hope is that we can create a standardized structure for the Make WP channels, possibly more closely aligned with the Make team structure with the goal of simplifying contribution.
