Color configuration not working?

Hi, I love your theme and want to build a website with it, but the color-cutomization via the config file doesnt seem to work properly.
I copy&pasted the default colors under the 'colors' section of config.toml, like your description tells me, but nothing happens when I change the colorcodes.
Already changed every colorcode to be sure I didn't take the wrong one.
I'm not familiar with css, so please tell me if I did something wrong...
