Rewrite experiment scripts to be more generic

The current scripts to run experiments for the single emitter are relatively specific to the work done (in terms of what sections of the code are being timed, and so on). It would be nice if these could be modified to make them more generic, where possible - for example, make lists of lists for specified timed sections rather than a list object for each single timed section.

This is a purely cosmetic thing but may help with future work.
