Yeah I don't think the metadata pipe has any code to pass the artwork along. I just updated someone else's patch to work with newer versions, the code isn't originally mine.
Rust is fun though, I could try adding that myself, I'm not sure how hard it'd be. I'll try looking into it if / when I get some time !
Thanks! That would be appreciated. It's pretty minor though, as you can use
the Spotify integration to pull the artwork.
The specific thing that made me notice it was that the artwork is missing
from the AirPlay endpoints that can show it. In my case Airfoil. If someone
is using the forked-daapd web ui they might notice it more though.

I think this might be related to Raspotify. The artwork is not coming into Forked-Daapd via the pipe.
Is it missing a setting in the configuration to pass the artwork along? I'm not really sure where to start here and any input would be appreciated!
