In German it is more polite in terms of political correctness to specify in the short biography, if this is a short biography about a female or a male person (eg, Über den Autor - male / Über die Autorin - female - English: About the author.).
To distinct this automatically in the German version, it would be best, if the information of the sex would be part of the informations about the contributor.
