I've been using this plugin and developing on an iPhone 7 and an iPhone 12 Pro Max.

However I tried using an iPhone 5S the other day using iOS 12.x and the experience is very degraded compared to newer iOS versions.

I'm considering converting my app to a SPA and using JavaScript animations to to the transitions as I think that would be better backward compatible at this point unless anyone else has any better suggestions?
