Code and Documentation Licensing

As a rule of thumb, while we permit the MIT Licence and Public Domain licences, we prefer to the GNU strain. Vega Strike has always used one or another version of the GNU licence and now in 2017 we use the GNU v3 as the preferred version and it is our intent to upgrade as necessary.

This will apply to all code submitted to the project regardless of any in-line licensing. Code that is submitted under a license that is not compatible with the GNU v3 will be rejected or removed.

Imagery, Art, Media Licensing

We prefer to use the Creative Commons Share Alike 4.0 license for media, but the GPLv3 is a valid option. Please be warned that changing from GPLv3 to CC-by-sa-4.0 is not possible on to GPLv3.
