Villagers Despawn

Me and my fiancé play together, me on Xbox, her on switch. Every new world we make since the new update the villagers end up despawning. I’ve tried protecting them but they still disappear. And once they do we have to find a new village but within a small amount of time of finding new villagers they end up despawning too. It happens regardless of who makes the game too. It’s very frustrating because we finally have a great seed but they are just despawning again.
