Villager Bards won't eat.

The Bards do everything but eat? it's hard to have them last more than 20 minutes because they die of hunger! As I'm typing this I was playing the modpack and just from typing this I already had another bard die I didn't even notice I was checking because I wanted to screenshot a bards hunger and I have food available in my storage building from the Chief but they just wont eat???
