We, the Tabular Editor team, have a wish to be more open and transparent and ensure that you in the community have input into where the tool is going.
We are kick starting this effort with the following initiatives:
❎ Use upvotes of ideas to guide importance of features.
🙋♀️ Take polls on specific features to understand community’s priorities.
🪨 Using milestones on issues
❗ Show critical issues through label
Ideas upvotes
From now on, we will use the number of upvotes as an important factor to decide which features to work on next for Tabular Editor 3. This means that you have the power to influence our roadmap and future updates by simply clicking the upvote button on the ideas that matter to you.
So, if you want to see a specific feature, please press that upvote button so we can see how important it is to you.
Taking Polls
We want to know what matters most to you, so we are going to launch some surveys in the GitHub Community that ask you to rank the features you want us to work on first. A survey can cover anything from long-term plans to short-term goals. We hope you will participate and share your feedback with us. The first survey has already completed with finding a new feature for our November 2024 release.
Using Milestones
We use the Milestones function in GitHub to indicate which bugs will be included in a future release, and we are stepping up this effort to keep it up to date. This function allows us to assign a milestone to an issue, which signals to the person who reported the issue that we are working on it and that it will be resolved in the next release.
New Issue label: Critical
To ensure that our users are aware of the most urgent issues affecting Tabular Editor 3, we have decided to introduce a new label. Issues that have a severe impact on the core functionality of Tabular Editor 3 and that cannot be resolved by any alternative methods will be marked as critical.
This way, we can prioritize fixing these issues and communicate their status more clearly to the TE community.
