Things to think about including:

Basic data visualization of raw data to look for outliers
Perhaps use "unique" to look for misspellings, for example of species names
Can use dply'rs filter, replace, etc
Encourage everything to be done in R scripts for reproducibility. BUT, if data sets are small and won't be manipulated often, it may be easier for some users to do things in Excel, for instance using filter
