1.8.9.1 bpop and WRITE flash visual stimulus to force encoding #365
Comments
Should I implement this for bpop or is somebody else working on it? Sounds pretty easy. Not sure what you mean by WRITE, sounds like a tutor I haven't worked on, I can take a look to see if it's similar to bpop. How long should it show the stimulus then? I'm assuming we're talking about time after it goes to the bottom of the screen? |
@octavpo - I'd like to run the idea by others first. What's your ETA for 1.8.9.1 ECHOWORDS mode to encourage fluent reading #348? @amyogan, @judithodili, @kevindeland -

Interesting idea! We might check with someone over in psychology who has
more insight on these cognitive supports...?

@amy - Good idea! So I asked Ken just now: From: Jack Mostow Ken – As an expert in cognitive psychology and ITS who is familiar with RoboTutor, can you give us quick advice on the following? For a multiple choice or written-input task, showing and then hiding a visual stimulus before displaying or speaking the target response would force the kid to encode the stimulus or response. For example, the stimulus could be a character or word to read, write, or map to an image, or vice versa.
Thanks! – Jack |
Showing then removing a visual stimulus before bpop displays or speaks targets in bpop or before the kid writes in WRITE will force the kid to encode the stimulus or response.
In either case, Flash is like Show but brief.
