R LSP + Monaco editor

I am working on an application that uses Monaco as an online editor, allowing users to code in Python. I was researching to add support for R and was wondering if this project can be used with Monaco. The current infrastructure uses websockets to connect to the python LSP. Can the R language server be run on websockets?
