Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Various solutions have been tested for installing packages hosted on GitHub in the version of RStudio Desktop recently installed for R 4.4.1. The option to use browser proxy settings has been removed from Tools -> Global Options in this version. At present, the only viable workaround seems to be to download a zipped copy of the package repo in the browser, unzip locally and use devtools::install() to install the package to the library.
Describe what you'd like
A description of this workaround using a package hosted on GitHub as an example (e.g. RDCOMClient as this is frequently used by staff at PHS).
Describe alternatives you've considered
DaS may identify a solution that makes these instructions redundant in future - at present this seems to be a firewall/proxy issue.
