Get Outlook version from Taskpane add-in in Elixir Add-In

All, I have an Outlook Add-in written in Elixir that gets the version of Outlook (Office.context.mailbox.diagnostics.hostVersion) when it launches but I am having the following issues:

1. On older version of Outlook (prior to New Outlook for Windows), the OL version is displayed on the second or third time I open the taskpane.
2. On new version of Outlook on Windows, the OL version is never displayed.

Wondering if the new version of OL has some limitations with third party web apps that are not React, etc.
