The section of the NixOS manual on Wayland says, “While X11 […] is still the primary display technology on NixOS, Wayland support is steadily improving.” This suggests that installers will setup desktop environments using X instead of Wayland, at least by default, and that Wayland support is still not production-ready. However, at least the GNOME-based installation system seems to run with Wayland instead of X. Therefore, it seems that the above-quoted statement is not correct anymore and should be changed or dropped.
Meta remark: The template for filing documentation-related issues asks for providing a package name, which doesn’t make sense in the case of the NixOS manual, at least not to me. It would be good to say what to put into the title instead of a package name.

Well, the NixOS manual doesn’t seem to mention concrete maintainers. So whom to tag here? This is something that should be made clear in the manual and also here on GitHub probably. In lack of a better solution, I’m just tagging here some of the people who are prominently listed as contributors on the GitHub home page of this project: @fabaff, @SuperSandro2000, @NickCao, @mweinelt, @wegank, @peti, @edolstra.
Note for maintainers: Please tag this issue in your pull request description. (i.e. Resolves #ISSUE.)
I assert that this issue is relevant for Nixpkgs
I assert that this request is not already implemented in the latest NixOS or Nixpkgs manuals.
