Upon further experimentation, it looked like the enemies couldn't be seen at distances of 10+ regardless of day/night. |
Having the same problem in current webserver nightly, in Angband in the "thar be dragons here" level; I can detect monsters within the detection radius no problem as far as I can tell, but with telepathy and normal LOS I can't actually see monsters 10+ dist away, even after lighting the level with clairvoyance. |
Just ran across the Proud Warlords themed level in v1.4.5, same issue appears to be happening—you can't actually see enemies until they're much closer than your total LOS, though I didn't think to check exact numbers. Entirely possible whatever the problem is it's a code artefact from way back when. |
Ye, this was deliberate in Oangband and I have never changed it. It was probably for efficiency reasons, so should be fine to remove now. |
Webserver, nightly, Proud Warlords level at night:
Having issues with lighting where I can see an enemy's light radius in its entirety, but not the enemy itself. I left my save at an example, @ me on the webserver if you want to see.
