Moving from Wiki...

This is a list of Wi-Fi adaptors we've validated work with the Balena OS based on Nebra Helium Hotspots.

Module Status Notes
RT5370 Fully working
RT5372 To be tested Supposedly uses same driver as RT5370
RTL8188EUS Fully working (CHIP_8188E_Normal_Chip_TSMC_UNKNOWN_CUT)
RTL8188ETV Fully working Identifies as EUS in lsusb, (CHIP_8188E_Normal_Chip_TSMC_D_CUT_1T1R_RomVer)
RTL8821CU No Also does not work on UB 20.04 / KERN 5.8
RTL8812AU No Also does not work on UB 20.04 / KERN 5.8
RTL8723BU No* Does work on UB 20.04 / KERN 5.8
RTL8192EU No* Does work on UB 20.04 / KERN 5.8
MT7601U No* Does work on UB 20.04 / KERN 5.8

Looks like RTL8723BU and RTL8192EU and MT7601U should be supported by balena shortly 👍

any plans to support 5GHz WIFI Dongles? the current list is not helping

Do you know of any 5ghz dongles that are supported in Linux @styxl ?

@styxl and it worked? That appears to use RTL8812BU

They claimed it worked on Fedora but its likely they had to compile drivers etc

Looks like driver is here https://github.com/fastoe/RTL8812BU

We should be able to get balena to build it into a future OS build. Will ping them now
