It would be useful if there was documentation (or an example of non carto.com) on how to add another provider to the layer sources. For example, data sourced from https://github.com/tobinbradley/dirt-simple-postgis-http-api other API service, or perhaps even a local SQLite datasource

Also, examples of how to use the existing vector & geojson source type's would be useful
