Now that we have Sandtiles in game, we might want to build Rails on them. Perhaps you intentionally made them not-buildable since it is not most realistic, that one would build rails on pure sand. But on the other hand, the player perhaps expects to be able to build there, too. I don't know, it's just a proposal :).

I like sandtiles. With them the player can use them to go back to their base easily without being able to place rails to get to the resource that easy. +1 for them being un-buildable

But it also makes it impossible to vary a bit in level design. I wanted to have a level where the camp was surrounded by sand and the player first needs to get to the catacombs. This does not work, as it is impossible to connect a camp surrounded by sand with rails.

I share your idea, that it is nice to have shortcuts which are not railable. But perhaps there is a way having that, without limiting the possibilities of level design to much?

What about other type of sand?

Like quicksand, players can't build stuff on top of it and also it could decrease player speed.

It would be good to have a non-buildable tile. But it needs to be more obvious that you can't build on it (having clutter on it, or something)

+1 on fixing the sandtile bug

There is an issue for having non-railable tiles here: #592
I think it would be best to move discussions about such a tile there, and let sand-tiles be buildable (because that is intuitive)

Sand tiles being non-railable was an unintended bug, so I'll merge this. Such an effect can be added on purpose later, in #592.
