What I know about regulations in my state:

  • If your flock is considered a "small flock" you do not need certification to sell or distribute eggs directly to the public
  • If you provide eggs to a distributor for sale to the public you must have certification regardless of your flock size.
  • 3rd party distributors/sellers of eggs require special certification.

Details I need:

  • What is the definition of a small flock?
  • Are eggs for "free" the same as eggs for sale?
  • Is a community "co-op" of egg providers facilitated by a vending machine considered "direct to public" or "3rd party distribution"?
