Do enhanced tags remove metadata?

On the Enhanced Tags docs page, under "Include tag from metadata", it shows a tag being added from the metadata object. This tag is included in the output log, but the metadata field is missing from (the root level of the) output log. Is this on purpose? I would expect the field to continue to exist even though it's being added as tag.

Current example:
