MailChimp Template Discovery and Wireframing

New boilerplate sections:

• Not clear that this is also ENN (in addition to Midwest). Text, redesign of header image, etc. Their experiments are in the media library in MailChimp
• Static boilerplate byline (can be part of import), editable.
• Prominent links to new subscription management page/digest page
• Communicate that there are other regions they can sign up for (maybe on subscription management page)
• Prompt to forward email to other folks (currently in footer)
• Copy itself will stay the same

Design Inspo:

• Content area has remained largely the same over the years and can continue to do so
• Interested in exploring new typefaces though
• Main changes around the header & footer and boilerplate template
• Note: banner ad is not always there, but often is.
• Fresh Energy logo does need to be in the bottom.
• We will explore how to transition from the header to the new boilerplate sections, etc.
• Explore the double line design element from energynews.us/region/midwest/ right sidebar and the button styling
• Do want to keep it as one document. - any section dividers should only be in the boilerplate.
• Any special/seasonal sections?
  • Yes, they’ve done banner ads and text for NewsMatch, holiday breaks/announcements, etc. but not a ton.
  • March is 10th anniversary of publication, may do something for that.
  • Could include spacer for sponsored content

Notes:

• The one they have no works mostly fine, but they want to add more to it.
• We’ll stick with existing workflow for now. Can always revisit in the future.
• Current issues:
  • UX issue when people are viewing it with gmail app on mobile - text size renders small. Need to add in CSS to fix this.
