How should After/Followers be handled? Currently ignoring creators with such qualifiers.
EDIT: See list of all qualifiers present in IMA data two comments below.

Related to this, we don't catalog Workshops of (or related terms) as individual Parties records, but use the qualifier "Workshop of" with actual record for artist (e.g. Titian). Don't have an easy way to assign a unique identifier to these groups in absence of individual record. These are also being ignored by current mapping, due to presence of the qualifier.

Thoughts:

For qualifiers that indicate individual entities (e.g. Workshop of, NOT After), could mint a URI using primary artist IRN + qualifier, for example, "Workshop of Titian" would be:

"id": "https://data.discovernewfields.org/actor/630406/workshop-of",
"type": "Actor",
"_label": "Workshop of Titian"

Could possibly document the relationship between this Workshop of entity and the IMA record for Titian using the proposed relationship model in Linked Art Issue #107.

Still need a solution for qualifying other types of relationships. Will follow-up this comment with a list of potential qualifiers in use at IMA.

Could be represented as unique Actors:

  • Circle of
  • Follower of (but minting a URI could be misleading, with multiple individual followers likely, though the data is not that specific)
  • School of
  • Workshop of

Qualifiers indicating confidence in attribution:

  • Attributed to
  • Possibly
  • Probably

Open for consideration:

  • Copy of (Production event wouldn't be carried out by this - need to document this as a relationship between the object and the Actor, not via Production event...)
  • Formerly attributed to (Provenance event? - issue of whether time span is documented well)

Note to self: review the "Style of" model.

Update: The model for these situations are still in development. Have been parsed out so there will be a few solutions that cover all examples provided. More to come, still being discussed in LA issue #229 linked above.
