I use another plugin, netbox-documents, which adds a module to the page for objects which have a relationship to that model. Here's an example:
I'm not proficient in Python, at a cursory glance at the plugin docs this appears to be done via: https://netboxlabs.com/docs/netbox/en/stable/plugins/development/views/#extra-template-content
netbox-documents implements it here for example: https://github.com/jasonyates/netbox-documents/blob/main/netbox_documents/template_content.py
It would be very convenient to be able to see software installations on the page for a device and VM.

That sounds like a great enhancement for the plugin! Thanks for providing an example where this has already been implemented.
I will add it to our backlog. There are a few other things we want to pick up first, though.
But we also accept PRs should anyone have time before we do ;)
