Weird time zone bug causing problems for NP Site Admins creating auctions for NPs that are not in the same time zone
FYI, in my travels creating mini test auctions, I ran into an issue as an NYC-based Admin creating an auction for LA-based Grateful Guitars.
When I went to set the time in the Auction Start panel, it showed me the current time in NYC, so I didn’t think to set the timing in PT. Of course, when I launched the auction, it said the auction wasn’t starting until 3 hours from now.
So I created a new auction, and tried to set the start time to 2 hours and 55 mins behind (in other words PT time but 5 mins from when I was entering the start date). I got an error message that I couldn’t choose an earlier time.
In other words, the auction creation panel forces me to enter times that make sense for ET, but when the auction publishes, the system interprets the entered times as existing in the time zone the NP is set to.
This will cause a problem for remote NP Admins if they work in a different time zone than the NP’s GOODBIDS time zone setting.
(For the purposes of getting the mini auction out of the way, I temporarily changed Grateful Guitars’ time zone to New York. Switching it back to LA now.)
