Switching between editors

The possibilities to use 3 editors are really great in Publii. What I miss is that I can switch from the WYSIWYG to the block editor for a post or page or vice versa. This can also be from the main menu, using “Open with”. How do you see this idea?

I'm not sure if I've been understood correctly @bobmitro. What I meant: I am writing a post with the block editor. While writing, I want to switch from the block to the WYSIWYG for this post with the existing content. Or I am in the WYSIWYG editor for a page and want to switch to the block editor and take the content with me when I switch.

I perfectly understood what you meant. I committed to create a menu items with the conversion options. However, we still need someone to develop a content converter between editors.

Well, to be honest, I was just joking, because it’s indeed a very serious and complex project. Too time-consuming, difficult, and costly, with very little real benefit.

This is not on our agenda, either now or in the future.

I tried to change the post editor via database (db.sqlite) in the \Documents\Publii\sites\your-site\input directory.

I use (HeidiSQL portable). go to 'posts_additional_data', here you will see a table with the key '_core'. open the value of the table (adjust it to the posts id of the post). and change the value as desired

change the value from one of these: "blockeditor", ""tinymce, and "markdown"

That will allow you to change the editor, but the content is not well supported AFTER changing the editor. That is because the content is stored in the form that the editor that created it can later read it back from the database and into the editor. They are not cross editor compatible.

Thank you very much for your tests and further comments. To be honest, I also thought that it would be easier to switch the content and the editors with each other. But I can see the complexity now. From a user perspective, however, switching would have been a really cool usability feature. But I think that the focus and effort should be on other points.
