Block page: How to add div opening tag not automatically closed (closed in a later block)

Hi,

I want to build a block page like this:

• HTML block:
• Header block
• Paragraph block
• HTML block:

If I preview this, Publii will automatically close the first

tag. And automatically open the

tag.

Yes, I can directly create all that in one HTML block. But it will be less easy to edit head part and paragraph part, specially for beginner editor.

I need to wrap Header and Paragraph block in a special div, that I can add specific CSS things.

Any help or workaround ? :)

A single HTML page should not have more than one block. Per W3C:

Definition and Usage
The tag represents the root of an HTML document.

The tag is the container for all other HTML elements (except for the [<!DOCTYPE>]> (https://www.w3schools.com/tags/tag_doctype.asp) tag).

Can you explain more - maybe offer some code. We might be able to help.

Ok, yes, here's what I want to do:

As you can see, Publii adds automatically </div> at the first html block ; and <div> the the second html block.

Since Yesterday, I think about create a very small plugin, to simply replace special text. Like STARTDIV_test to be replaced by <div id="test"> ; and ENDDIV to be replaced by </div>. Any link or suggestion?

The best way is to create a custom post/page template with the structure you need, such as containers, and then use the editors to add the content.

Yes, I'll try to understand how to create a tag template. But A page template si not appropriate: I'll have lot of differents pages.

In plus, I think it may not be a good idea to create a template: when the theme is updated, I will risk losing the templates. A plugin is safer for that. No?

Any tips about creating a small replacement plugin? The documentation speak only about Insertion. I understand that to replace something, it has to be a Modifier plugin. #1359

You can put your template(s) in a subfolder (similar to a child theme in WordPress): https://getpublii.com/dev/theme-overrides/
These override folders will not be overwritten when the main theme is being updated.

Well, after trying to understand page template, I understand that I'll have to create one template per page. That's not my goal. I do have to work with plugin. See my next post...
