New Wiki Website: General questions about domain etc.

Dear core-developer, contributor or foundation member.

Introduction

I already tried to contact @ngyingzhong and @kynkong91 on Telegram, but didn't receive any answer. I'm not sure, if they see messages there or not.

The past months, I've spent a lot of time and energy creating a completely revamped Wiki website for the DeFiChain community.

Please refrain from sharing the URL to the general community, since the domain will change anyway.

✨ The source code is currently found under my account, but publicly available.

There are 4 topics I want to discuss. I hope, I am at the right spot to discuss these ideas. If not, please point me into the right direction.

1. Domain

Now that the project nears completion, I was thinking about how to put the Wiki out into the world.

Option 1 (My proposed solution)

Bringing the new wiki closer to the official website and integrate it under the same domain. This could be something like:

• wiki.defichain.com
• defichain.com/wiki

✅ This solution would greatly improve the credibility of the source, because the domain is widely known.
✅ The Domain is not controlled by a single entity, but controlled by the non-profit Foundation.

Option 2

Creating a completely new domain, which is then registered under my name.

❌ The domain would not be spread across the internet already.
❌ I would be the owner of the domain and if I abandon the project and keep the domain forever, all existing links would end at 404.

Option 3

Using the domain of the current wiki-project, which was initially funded by a CFP: defichain-wiki.com.

❌ The owner of the domain was not interested to use this domain for the new wiki, so this solution is out of the window.

▶ What do you think about bringing the new wiki under the official defichain.com domain?

2. Privacy Policy

Since every website needs a privacy policy, I for now just link to the official Privacy Policy page on defichain.com.

▶ Can I do this, or do I need a separate/new privacy policy?

3. Copyright

At the bottom of the page, the text "Copyright © 2022 DeFiChain" is displayed.

▶ Is this done right, or do I need to change that?

4. Source Code

The whole source code of the wiki is currently on my GitHub account. Because everyone can fork and download the code, it is already decentralized. But I thought maybe it would be better, if the code was under the DeFiChain GitHub organization.

Hi @0ptim ,

Yz and myself don't reply to PMs on telegram as we receive many of these on a daily basis, and it is an impossible task to tell which ones are scams and which ones are not. You can reach out to us via github/reddit.

Personally, I love the aesthetics of your wiki page. It really heartens me when I see that we have community members that selflessly contribute to DeFiChain like this.

With regard to your proposed solution:

• Unfortunately we won't be able to integrate your wiki under the defichain.com domain. The reason is because that will make us susceptible to cookie-poisoning, and we take the security of DeFichain very seriously. It is for this reason that defiscan doesn't share the same domain as defichain.com
• But I would like for this beautiful wiki page to be published. At this juncture, the best option is option 2 - where you raise your own CFP to fund the new domain + hosting. I know this is not ideal given the reasons you mentioned, but this is the only option I can think of if you are convicted about publishing this wiki

I'm very happy to hear, that you like the wiki!

I understand your decision and think it's good to keep the domain as secure as possible.
Regarding the domain, I think option 2 will be the best way going forward.

What are your thoughts regarding the other three topics?
