Page number location...if possible I'd like to drop the page number down a little, it's really close to the text on all the pages that have full text...not sure why. Screen shot below. I've played with the footsep and textlength spacing a bit in the .tex file to see if those help, but nothing seems to be changing.

Honestly I'm not sure, my latex skills are pretty weak. It's somewhere in the .tex or .cls files, but at this point my guess is as good as yours. One thing to be aware of is whether the current page numbers, pinched as they look, match the UC Davis Style. UCSB has a template they check the final document against and that's where they wanted the page numbers. So, while I agree it would be great to learn how to change the location, each user should make sure that the final location matches their UC's requirements!
