Description

The Changemaker Portfolio is designed to showcase the social impact efforts and skills of young individuals. However, feedback from users and employers indicates confusion about the meaning and representation of skills and action badges. Users are uncertain about the significance of these badges, the progression or levels achievable, and how specific actions relate to overall achievements. This lack of clarity hinders the platform's goal of facilitating opportunities for young people based on their documented skills and actions.

Key design-research questions

  • Clarity and Definition of Badges: How can we enhance the understanding of what each badge represents and the levels within it?
  • Badge Progression: What is the best way to visualize the progression and maximum levels attainable in each badge?
  • Action-Specific Representation: How can we effectively show the actions activated for each specific badge in addition to overall actions?
  • User and Employer Engagement: How do we ensure the representations meet the needs and expectations of both user groups?

Current State

Currently, users and employers struggle with interpreting the badges and skills displayed in the Changemaker Portfolio. There is a gap in:

  • Understanding the significance of each badge and skill.
  • Recognizing the progression or levels within badges.

Seeing the link between specific actions and overall achievements.

  • The user experience is marred by these uncertainties, which can diminish the perceived value of the portfolio in professional and social impact contexts.

Desired State

  • June to September: Focused project duration for enhancing the usability and clarity of the Changemaker Portfolio.

Expected Goals:

  • Develop a more intuitive badge and skills visualization system.
  • Implement a clearer indication of progression and levels in badges.
  • Create a more dynamic linkage between specific actions and overall skill activation.

Goals & Mid-Point Milestone

  • Overall Goal: Redefine the badge and skills system to be more intuitive and informative, enhancing user and employer engagement.

Tasks by Mid-point Check-in (July 26th):

  • Complete initial user and employer feedback sessions to refine understanding of needs.
  • Develop and test initial prototypes for new badge and skills representations.
  • Establish a clear glossary or legend for badges and skills that includes levels and progression metrics.

Acceptance Criteria

  • User Understanding: At least 80% of users express a clear understanding of what each badge represents and its significance.
  • Employer Satisfaction: At least 75% of surveyed employers find the new representations useful for evaluating candidates.
  • Engagement Metrics: Increase in portfolio completion rates and user engagement with the badge progression system by at least 30%.

hii there!
i'm about to submit the proposal although i have one doubt, do we have to include any wireframes/mockups in the proposal itself? If not, proposal should contain just our approach toward solving the problem right?
