Keep chat paused and display messages in quick batches

I find it very difficult to keep up with Twitch chat when the messages move unpredictably as I'm trying to read them. Constantly chasing messages as they're getting bumped upwards is very straining on my eyes. I know there are features for pausing chat on a key press or on mouse hover, but that requires you to have the Chatterino window focused. I am usually playing a game while reading chat so I can't be tabbing out nonstop.

I think it would be very helpful if there was a feature to keep chat paused for a designated length of time, and then display the backlog of messages in one quick batch. This would keep chat in a constant cycle of pausing and quickly updating, which would give chat a predictable rhythm and make it so much easier to keep track of. Being able to specify the length of the pause from 1-3 seconds would dramatically change the way I can read chat.
