There was a file on the expo computer desktop which had them in it. These include what to do to handle mercurial, when using it.

Now for rerendering large parts of smk:

  • File open sketch/topo of all.svx
  • Update | reload fontcolours
  • Select from subsets: unattributed "000 separation leg"
  • Make stroke >> big so you can see the 4 legs we use to break the survex line data into smaller pieces
  • Action | Allow delete centrelines
  • Select groups of centrelines and repeatedly click on [Component] until the lines you want deleted are selected

It would be useful to check over and report on the state of all the documents here, so we know what is out of date as we change aspects of the data management and workflow

Over the summer I steadily worked through the expo handbook, rearranging it to push ancient stuff into the background and to label obsolete stuff as such. The Mercurial handbook instructions are now at least all in one place: http://expo.survex.com/handbook/manual.html#editingthedata%20management%20system but still a bit of a mess . The Windows bit is all in one place:

Workflows for recording cave data are now all here in the /survey/ sub-folder of the handbook (inc links to disparate pages elsewhere): http://expo.survex.com/handbook/survey/newcave.html

Workflows for recording cave data are now systematized into a definite sequence

documentation for how to use the "New Cave" data entry online form now exists in outline
http://expo.survex.com/handbook/survey/caveentry.html
This is the 6th page in a sequence which tracks the procedure from a fist-full or muddy scraps of notebooks to the eventual A0 coloured poster on your wall. The sequence starts here:
http://expo.survex.com/handbook/survey/newcave.html
and needless to say it is far from complete. But comments on what exists to date are extremely welcome.

But nothing like the level of detail of the comment at the head of this issue "goatchurchprime commented on Dec 21, 2018"
