Make the 0.8.0 release with major changes:

TODO (see ReleaseGuide)

  • finalize CHANGELOG
  • merge into master
  • tag
  • GitHub release
  • pypi release

might as well make it support Py 3.10...

Can't easily test Py 3.10 until all our dependencies support it (namely, MDAnalysis conda packages MDAnalysis/mdanalysis#3457 ) so we'll make a patch release for 3.10.
