I found that the NumberMask function correctly handles numeric strings with leading spaces, but incorrectly reports NaN for trailing spaces (e.g. "100 "), even though the JavaScript isNaN("100 ") function reports false, and the JavaScript Number("100 ") function reports 100, consistent with BBj:
