Foundation Infrastructure

Introduction

When deploying AI solutions with Azure OpenAI, organizations have two primary pathways to consider:

  1. Azure AI Studio: An integrated, managed environment that simplifies the deployment and management of AI services and models.
  2. Standalone Deployment: A customizable approach that offers more control over the architecture and allows for advanced configurations.

Pathway Advantages and Disadvantages

Azure AI Studio

Azure AI Studio provides a streamlined, user-friendly interface and managed services tailored for quick deployments and ease of use.

Advantages:

  • Simplified management with built-in tools and workflows.
  • Integrated environment for prompt flow setup and endpoint management.
  • Reduced operational overhead with managed services.

Disadvantages:

  • Limited customization options for network configurations.
  • Possible constraints on scaling and fine-tuning of resources.
  • Restrictions on certain advanced features that may be available in a standalone deployment.

Standalone Deployment

A standalone deployment gives organizations complete control over their Azure infrastructure and services, suitable for customized or advanced scenarios.

Advantages:

  • Full flexibility in customizing network configurations and resources.
  • Ability to finely tune performance and scaling settings.
  • Access to a broader range of features and configurations.

Disadvantages:

  • Requires more in-depth Azure knowledge for setup and management.
  • Increased operational responsibility for monitoring, maintaining, and updating the environment.
  • Potentially longer setup time compared to the managed environment of Azure AI Studio.

Deployment Templates

For deploying with either pathway, templates can provide a starting point and reduce the effort required to get services running. Below are links to the respective templates for both Azure AI Studio and Standalone Deployment:

Each template is designed to address the specific advantages and tailor to the needs of the chosen pathway, while also outlining the considerations and potential trade-offs involved. Ensure you evaluate your organizational needs and the complexity of the AI solutions you aim to deploy before selecting a pathway.

Azure OpenAI API Management

This component enables the capability to balance traffic across multiple Azure OpenAI service endpoints and provides a robust logging mechanism. For more details on how to set up and configure this integration. Access Azure OpenAI API Management
