Wow, lot air traffic there. Some of those traces look like satellites, but many like aircraft. Are you under the flight path for an airport? |

Peter, I assume you have my dewheater service controlling the heating resistors? If so, I would like to add support for the BME280 sensor. It would be great if you could branch the repository and add it. If not, just share the code with me and I will add. |

I dont think anyone is covering the dome yet. I started on a project to do that, but have not finished it. I prototyped a few covers, but plan to go with the simplest solution which is just a disc the diameter of the acrylic dome that rotates into position over the dome and away tangent to it. Pretty simple, calculate sunset/sunrise or use set times...then rotate the disc using a servo motor (or similar). I plan to mount the motor on the outside of the current housing. This is where the axis needs to be (and its getting crowded in the housing). I need it here in the Tropics because it gets hot under the dome in full sun! |

I've been working on a 3D printed case for allsky - currently in its first iteration - produces these images Timelapse and build examples at https://connected-environments.org/blog/allsky/ its a first take but meant to be easy to print... Andy |

@Smithee11 , love this build. I had a question... it looks like you have a small shroud that sits with the lens to block light?? OR am I mistaken? Also read through your blog about the build WOW! Integration with HomeAssistant (great idea). Thanks for sharing. |

I've been using a mobile version of my AllSky enclosures design | https://www.instructables.com/All-Sky-Camera-Enclosures/
I made my first wild video last night | https://youtu.be/05ps4pW0YVI | I have been playing with the idea of having a foreground and I picked a spot I drive past each day. There is a train track in the foreground and Didcot power station in the distance. Exposure is 30s, I'm still poking at the HQ camera settings! |

Cool idea. I may try this when I get back home. I have a spectacular view of a 12,000 foot volcano from my place in Panama. Ive used it a lot in astro landscape photography, but it would also make a great timelapse background. I like your housing design, very clean. |

I have added a small ring - it's mainly due to my location as it was
picking up the light from the house, so it's okay without the ring. I can
upload it though you would like...
The Home Assistant integration works well as it runs all day and also
uploads the timelapse///

I run home assistant and currently working on a weather station setup, but never even thought of integrating allsky! :D (DOH!) I will add that here shortly. I may re-do my case, as I like your model better, also mine is small / compact and currently has heat issues. I have not been able to sort. Attached is my 'temporary' mount while I test. I am in a small neighbourhood and I think the light shroud would help eliminate some of the light, worth a shot. I have a couple of Cameras The main one
I also have a development setup i use for helping to develop Allsky. This has a Hq Camera, with autofocus, and an ASI 120 - Both cameras are for testing only. And a sample shot from it |

My dome did similar, but it also started disintegrating/cracking/peeling from the inside. The black is some flat-black paint I tried to help prevent some of the internal glare, the gray around it is the base plastic from the silicon peeling up when I took off the dome. I think this one was about 2 years old out under high desert conditions. |

Probably. I was thinking of making it cover 180 degrees, or maybe just a tad more, and have it rotate so that the slit in greg-the-maker's design is what is exposed at night. |

Yes, I know from dealing w acrylic hatch lenses on boats that acrylic will craze over time. At least these small domes are inexpenive and can be replaced. Another reason to develop a cover. Due to the strong tropical sun here (in the Tropics and at 4,500') I sprayed my dome white except directly over the lens. This helped cut the heat under the dome, but it still gets too warm. My dome has not yellowed noticeably after about a year. |

I think an equally slick cover could be made for Greg's sleek design. Just a rotating slotted cylinder. Paint the original acrylic cylinder so only the lens is exposed to cut down on internal heat. |

So I don't think my setup is any where near as nice as some of these other ones, but I have finally been able to get it setup outside and not have the PLA soften or melt :) I had to reprint the case 2 or 3 times, first couple were PLA (bad choice) and this last one was ABS (difficult to print for me... but go there). The case still generates a lot of heat, SOC get upwards of 60 celcius. The current mount is temporary, still considering best mount for this and how to protect the power supply. BUT the last week has produced good images and even dealt with some thunder showers / heavy rain. So pretty happy thus far. images are here: https://lr-allsky.cyberrover.ca/allsky

Is that gray enclosure ABS? It seems like you have a lot of under extrusion in the outer walls, I'm wondering if that is going to impact the water tightness of the enclosure. |

You are not wrong... not really sure I agree with the 'under extrusion', I think it is more of a hot end temp issue. Which I sorted at the top of the print ;) BUT yes... it's a mess. This is 18hr print, so I was not in a hurry to 're-print', it is water tight and solid. Already tested / tried before deployed and through several heavy rain storms ;) So for now, It will work. |

For my housing, similar to yours, I used 4" PVC pipe w a PETG printed dome adapter...saves a lot of print time and is very water proof. |

The supposed objective of all this development effort is to produce images (as if making were not justification enough!). So, lets see what your AllSkyCams are capturing!
