Error timeout after upgrading to v2023.05.01_02

since i updated i get this error which i can't fix,

/home/pi/allsky/bin/capture_ZWO: ERROR: Failed getting image: ASI_ERROR_TIMEOUT#1 (with 0.8 exposure = YES) (11)

I disabled Version 0.8 but the problem is not solved. With the old version of the software I had no problems.

Same situation. This problem is only during night session. During the day it works fine.

Did you try changing the USB value, up and down? Or turn on or off the "New Exposure Algorithm"?

It's strange that it would only happen at night since the same code is used. The only difference is the length of exposure.

Yes i have try to deselect new algorithm, new installation disabling new algorithm, change 0.8 yes and no, usb speed auto on and off with different speeds. I check all 4 ports. I have change nothing in my setup. I have tried install previous version but i receive an error during script installation. I don’t know to do. Francesco

How did you try installing the prior version, and what was the error?
You can attach ~/allsky/config/installation_logs/install.sh.log.
You will need to log into GitHub to attach it and /var/log/allsky.log since it doesn't work via email.

@ruspa1978 if you still have the v2023.05.01_02 allsky, move the .git directory from it to the new allsky directory. The errors were about that directory not existing. The "git clone" command creates it.

You can just do the git clone ... command and that will create the allsky/.git directory. Then rename allsky to allsky-v2023.05.01_02 and go from there.

It's strange that it would only happen during the day since the same code is used for day and night. The only difference is the length of exposure. And it only happens to @ruspa1978 at night.

How did you install the old version? where do you find it? I still use the Asi 224

@ruspa1978 I don't like problems like this where I can't think of anything that would cause the issue, other than a lot of people have problems with the 120 camera.
Did you try updating its firmware? If not, could you do that and try the newest Allsky release again?
If that still doesn't work, can I give you v2023.05.01_01 to try? That would help me narrow down the cause.
We really want you to be able to use the latest release so you can get future enhancements.

I have tested both asi120mm mini and 220mm mini. Firmware of 120 is updated. I wasn’t able to install major release copying the .git folder from _2 version. It crash during installation. I made backup of major release on a sd card with asi120 and using this my 120 works fine. Yesterday i have used 220 that i have ordered to improve quality and stability. I’m very happy but… when day/night transition starts also with this i had timeout errors, i try to reboot and to disable new algorithm, but nothing. Only when transition ended it worked. Also with 220 i have tryed change port and enable/disable settings with wiki advices. Sorry for my english.

I have noticed that the TIMEOUT errors will come and go when different software is released. It's possible there is an underlying bug somewhere that's causing the problem, and that bug behaves differently in every software release.

Today I put it inside the ASI, and it worked correctly without showing the TimeOut error. As soon as the temperature exceeds 39 degrees, the error appears, so there is definitely a bug related to this issue. In fact, I don't have any problems during the night, only during the day when the temperature reaches over 50 degrees. However, if I place it indoors, away from direct sunlight, and the temperature remains below 39 degrees, everything works correctly.

Everything was working correctly before the update!

Sounds like a hardware-related problem brought on by something in the software. I will send instructions on how install the prior release. Have you tried EVERYTHING in th ZWO troubleshooting page? That fixes the problem for almost everyone.

I just discovered that even if you enable the auto gain for the day, then the error is triggered.

@abrosio, Antonio, if you still have the original allsky-OLD directory from when you upgraded then you can simply rename it:
~
cd
mv allsky allsky-NEW
mv allsky-OLD allsky
sudo systemctl start allsky

If you do NOT have the original `allsky-OLD` directory then I will check if I have a copy of 0.8.3, or you can follow the instructions above and try v2022.03.01.

@EricClaeys I tried to install version 2022.03, but in the end, it asks me to specify two files that I don't know, and if I choose to skip, the installation ends with an error. If I still try to launch the web UI from allsky.local or the IP address, I get a 404 Not Found error. What could be the issue?

I would like to ask if it's possible to have version 0.8 or 0.8.2 or 0.8.3, as they worked perfectly for me, along with the installation instructions. If possible, please send them to [email protected].

However the timeout problem in my case with the ASI 224 is definitely the temperature, because at night it works perfectly, as the temperature rises above 45, an error appears. You should fix this bug.

@abrosio Antonio, I can't find a copy of v0.8 anywhere but did find an easy way to install older versions.
I encourage you to try the newest major release (v2022.03.01) and if that doesn't work then try the prior major release (v2022.03.01).
To do so, simply replace what comes after --branch

cd
mv allsky allsky-xxx
git clone --branch v2023.05.01 --recursive https://github.com/thomasjacquin/allsky.git
cd allsky
./install.sh

The problem with the ASI224 and temperature is almost certainly hardware related since Allsky doesn't care about the temperature. It's possible there's a bug in Allsky that somehow is triggered by the camera when the temperature reaches 45, but without access to that camera it's next to impossible to debug. Did this camera also work fine in the prior release of Allsky, even when temperature was above 45?

@EricClaeys sure it worked, never had a problem for the past two years until 20 days ago i had the bad idea to upgrade to the new software, even with 65 degrees inside the chamber it has always worked perfectly.

Anyway today I did a test, I changed the camera to an ASI 290 and as the temperature reached 45 thanks to the software it showed the error. So that's something that happens with all rooms. With me in this period outside the temperature easily reaches 38 degrees and the room even at 60 degrees. At this point I have an unusable system.

Since you have multiple cameras that get timeouts when the temperature gets hot, I suspect your Pi may be contributing to the problem.
Have you ever gone to the System page in the WebUI to see if the Pi is undervoltaged?

v2023.05.01_02 works for everyone except the two people in this Discussion. The ASI_ERROR_TIMEOUT problem has always been very random and almost everyone was able to resolve it following the Troubleshooting steps. Unfortunately none of the cameras the Allsky team has have the problem.

You misunderstood me, my camera works very good with newest Allsky version on all temperatures without any asi errors. The other versions since 08 works all without asi errors. I have test it. This is my second 178mc and works good.
