Special Character in FTP Pwd

I have a special character "$" in my FTP password that is causing files not to upload to my web server. is there a way to escape the $ in my password?

I tried escaping the "$" with "" so that the password is now "xxx$xxxx" it does not seem to work.

@CleverJay I haven't figured out a way to escape special characters other than "!" using the "set +H" setting in bash. I was hoping there was a bash setting to ignore ALL special characters, but I haven't found one. You can try adding "" to REMOTE_PASSWORD in config/ftp-settings.sh, for example:

REMOTE_PASSWORD="123\$456"

If that doesn't work, try adding "\" or "\".
After your first attempt, do this:

cd allsky/tmp
cp lftp_cmds.txt x.txt

You can now edit the x.txt file, and the run lftp -f x.txt as often as needed.

Thanks Eric, I opened this as an issue. I noted that using backslash as an escape doesn't seem to work, I have used that password with the $ in the old FTP-Settings script and lftp works. That's what puzzles me, because the old script is bash and uses the same lftp command.

Hi Eric, I converted these from .sh to .txt files for attachment. ftp-settingswebcam is a direct copy of the old ftp-settings script. skylapserftp is working and uploads a webcam image once a minute called from a cron job.

Have you tried "...\x24..." for $ in the settings password field
