[question] Is it possible to use waybar with weston?

I want to see if I can get running waybar under the weston compositor however I get this error.

Is it possible to use it under weston? I am putting this under discussions because I know a non wlroots compositor is not under the scope of this project. This is something I am curious to see if I can get running though. I already tested it with labwc on the same desktop and I do not get the error above.
